DESPERATE JOURNEY

SURVIVORS FOUGHT DESPERATION
Dominicans who survived two weeks on a wooden boat watched in horror as others passengers attack a woman for her breast milk. One woman refused and was thrown overboard. 55 people died on this trip, most of them just jump off. They departed from a village named Del Limon on July 29th. They had set out to Puerto Rico in search of a better life. They had almost reached the island of Desecheo, when their engine failed. The captain jumped off on another ship, and promised to return for help.He never did. More than 7000 Dominicans have been detained trying to reach Puerto Rico since Oct 1. The boat had no seats and no oars, it was about 10 feet wide.


CUBAN EXCEPTION
Cubans might have travel restrictions against them, but an American Distributor Sysco Corp is working with the Cuban government to increase sales to the island's tourist industry under an exception to the U.S trade embargo.. The Corporation is the largest food distributor in N.America , servicing more than 420,000 restaurants, schools and
hospitals in the U.S and Canada.


TOYS R US
Toys R Us battered by prices wars from discounters, especially Wal-Mart may sell chain.The 11.6 billion company is also pursuing a possible spinoff of Babies R Us. Traditional Toys have decreased in importance as children are turning to video games, computer software , sporting goods and music entertainment at yunger ages.Delray Beach based Office-Depot Inc in march made a deal to buy 124 shutterd Kids R Us stores for $197 million. Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowe'sCos are interested in buying the company real estate valued at about 2.3 billion as of Jan 31 of this year. It had about 2 billion of cash and cash equivalents at year's end.FAO Inc, owner of FAO Schwarz, Zany Brainy Chains, and KB Toys Inc , all have been unseated by the Giant discounter.
