Soccer Hosts Haiti Women's National Team Sunday - Ball State

<p>

Ball State, in the midst of its spring schedule, will play Haiti for the second year in a row. The Cardinals posted a 1-0 victory in last year’s meeting.
“We are truly delighted to have the opportunity to play the Haiti National Team again in Muncie,” Ball State head coach Craig Roberts said. “It offers us a chance to compete against very seasoned players and presents a challenge we need to continue to grow.

Jamaicans in Haiti say they are being neglected by Government - Latest News - Jamaica Observer Mobile

A number of Jamaicans arrested on drug- and gun-related charges since last year, say they feel neglected by the administration in their homeland.

The 20 Jamaicans arrested in the southern town of Les Cayes have denied any involvement in drug trafficking and have all claimed to be innocent victims.

"I got arrested but they did not find anything on me," Kenny Burton, 31, told the local Haitian website, HCNN.

"They found drug in the area where I was and they blamed it on us," said Burton who was arrested on the 7th of July last year together with another Jamaican colleague.

Global Guardian Adds Haiti To Service Area

"Our service model is popular with charity and aid organizations because of the relatively low-cost safety net we're able to provide." said Buckner. "It's comforting for a parent who has a teenager working with a charity group in Haiti to know that we're tracking their child's location and that there is a trusted team on the ground able to respond to a medical emergency, natural disaster or security incident."

JOIN IN THE SEARCH FOR THE MISSING MALAYSIAN AIRLINER MH 370

You as well can help in the comfort of your own house in the search for the missing airliner. Authorities hunting for the missing Malaysia Airlines jetliner expanded their search on land and sea Tuesday, reflecting the difficulties in locating traces of the plane more than three days after it vanished.

Malaysia Airlines said in a statement the western coast of the country, near the Straits of Malacca, was "now the focus" of the hunt. That is on the other side of peninsular Malaysia from where flight 370 was reported missing, meaning if the plane went down there it would have had to fly over the country, presumably undetected.

The Boeing 777 had 239 people on board when it vanished off radar screens early Saturday morning en route to Beijing from Kuala Lumpur, triggering a massive international search effort.

Authorities began their hunt at the point the plane was last known to be, a spot in the seas between Malaysia and Vietnam. With no debris found, they have systematically expanded their search to include areas where the plane could have in theory ended up given the amount of fuel it had on board.

They have also said that the plane might have tried to turn back to Kuala Lumpur. On Sunday, Malaysia's air force chief said there were indications on military radar that the jet may have done a U-turn.

New syringe can seal gunshot wounds in 15 seconds — RT News

The device was designed by US company RevMedx, which claims the apparatus can stop a wound from bleeding in just 15 seconds. The XStat is a modified syringe that injects tiny tablet-sized sponges into a wound. RevMedx says the device was inspired by the design of a standard emergency tire repair kit. Its creators initially experimented by spraying foam into wounds....

Temporary Protected Status Extended for Haitians | USCIS

Temporary Protected Status Extended for Haitians

Release Date: October 01, 2012 DHS also extends the suspension of certain requirements for F-1 nonimmigrant Haitian students

WASHINGTON—Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano has extended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti for an additional 18 months. Secretary Napolitano is also extending the suspension of certain requirements for F-1 nonimmigrant Haitian students.

The extension of TPS for Haiti will begin Jan. 23, 2013, and end July 22, 2014. Secretary Napolitano first designated Haiti for TPS on Jan. 21, 2010, after major earthquakes devastated the country.

Current Haitian TPS beneficiaries, who have continuously resided in the United States since Jan. 12, 2011, and seek to extend their TPS status, must re-register during the 60-day re-registration period that runs through Nov. 30, 2012, if they wish to maintain their TPS. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) encourages beneficiaries to re-register as soon as possible within the 60-day period. USCIS will accept applications starting today through Nov. 30, 2012. Individuals who have not continuously resided in the United States since Jan. 12, 2011, will not be eligible.

The 18-month extension also allows TPS re-registrants to apply for a new Employment Authorization Document (EAD). Eligible Haitian TPS beneficiaries who timely re-register will receive a new EAD, if requested, with an expiration date of July 22, 2014. USCIS recognizes that all re-registrants may not receive their new EADs until after their current EADs expire. Therefore, USCIS is extending currently valid TPS Haiti EADs bearing a Jan. 22, 2013, expiration date for an additional six months, through July 22, 2013.

In addition, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is extending the suspension of certain requirements for F-1 nonimmigrant Haitian students. The extension will enable these F-1 students to continue to obtain employment authorization, work an increased number of hours while school is in session, and reduce their course load, while maintaining their F-1 student status. The suspension of the regulatory requirements will remain in effect for an additional 18 months, through July 22, 2014. Further details about this extension may be found in the Federal Register notice published today.

For information on the TPS application process and eligibility requirements, go to www.uscis.gov/tps.

Researchers urge parents to take nightmares of their children seriously

“We certainly don’t want to worry parents with this news; three in every four children experience nightmares at this young age. However, nightmares over a prolonged period or bouts of night terrors that persist into adolescence can be an early indicator of something more significant in later life,” Professor Dieter Wolke explained.
